Developing an interlingual translation lexicon using WordNets and Grammatical Framework

چکیده
LinkedDictAbs = Cat ** { fun consecutive_01624944_A : A ; fun consequently_00061939_Adv : Adv ; fun conservation_06171333_N : N ; fun conspire_00562077_V : V ; fun sing_01362553_V2 : V2 ; ........ } The first line in the above given code states that the module ‘LinkedDictAbs’ is an abstract representation (note the keyword ‘abstract’). This module extends (achieved by ‘**’ operator) another module labeled ‘Cat2’ which, in this case, has definitions for the morphological categories ‘A’, ‘Adv’, ‘N’ and ‘V’. These categories correspond to the ‘adjective’, ‘adverb’, ‘noun’, and ‘verb’ categories in the WordNet respectively. However, note that in GF resource grammars we have a fine-grained morphological division for verbs. We sub-categorize them according to their valencies i.e ‘V’ is for intransitive, and ‘V2’ for transitive verbs. We refer to (Bringert et al., 2011) for more details on these divisions. Each entry in this module is of the following general type: fun lemma_senseOffset_t : t ; Keyword ‘fun’ declares each entry as a function of the type ‘t’. The function name is composed of lemma, sense offset and a type ‘t’, where lemma and sense offset are same as in the Princeton WordNet, while ‘t’ is one of the morphological types in GF resource grammars. This abstract representation will serve as a pivot for all concrete representations, which are described next. 2This module has definitions of different morphological and syntactic categories in the GF resource grammar library

Polish and English wordnets - statistical analysis of interconnected networks
Wordnets are semantic networks containing nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs organized according to linguistic principles, by means of semantic relations. In this work, we adopt a complex network perspective to perform a comparative analysis of the English and Polish wordnets. We determine their similarities and show that the networks exhibit some of the typical characteristics observed in o...
متن کاملLexicography in an Interlingual Ontology: An Introduction to EuroWordNet
EuroWordNet is a multilingual lexical database constructed in the wake of WordNet. The ontological structure of the language-dependent layers, analogous to individual WordNets, through the semantic space of the interlingual index and abstract framework of the top level ontologies are examined. The semantic nature of the interlingual lexicon is examined as it applies to Gruber’s principles for t...
متن کاملSemantic Annotation and Lexico-Syntactic Paraphrase
The IAMTC project (Interlingual Annotation of Multilingual Translation Corpora) is developing an interlingual representation framework for annotation of parallel corpora (English paired with Arabic, French, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish) with deep-semantic representations. In particular, we are investigating meaning equivalent paraphrases involving conversives and non-literal language us...
متن کاملStrategies Used in the Translation of Interlingual Subtitling
This study was an attempt to identify the interlingual strategies employed to translate English subtitles into Persian and to determine their frequency, as well. Contrary to many countries, subtitling is a new field in Iran. The study, a corpus-based, comparative, descriptive, non-judgmental analysis of an English-Persian parallel corpus, comprised English audio scripts of five movies of differ...
متن کاملLexical Allocation in Interlingua-based Machine Translation of Spatial Expressions
Given a spatial expression, or its computational semantic form, how is the expression’s spatial semantics to be allocated lexically, i.e., among entries in the lexicon? In interlingua-based machine translation (MT) research, lexical allocation is the problem of allocating or subdividing a linguistic expression’s full interlingual (IL) structure into the substructures that are lexical IL forms, ...
